If you've never seen my videos, here is the basic idea: My fans send me brief videos of themselves, recorded all over the world. Then I try to identify the location where those videos were recorded using only the clues that I am able to find in the video. Once I find the location, I make a video of my own, revealing the location and explaining exactly how I found it. I've done this over 500 times in more than 50 countries around the world so far.
I started making these videos as a fun way to raise awareness about the privacy risks of sharing too much information online. I was surprised to find that many people really enjoyed watching me find these locations and explain how I did it. As a result, I quickly built a rather large following on TikTok and other platforms.
Along the way, something else happened: Several brands began to see the potential of having me find a location that was somehow tied to their offerings.
In the last few years, I've partnered with software companies, movie studios, and sports entertainment companies to produce sponsored videos that highlight their products or services. These partnerships have been really fun, and I believe the brands have been very satisfied with the campaigns we've done together.
But it's not just the brands that are satisfied: My fans have often commented on these sponsored posts to give their enthusiastic approval, too!
“This is how ads should be done!” Shane B., TikTok user
“Someone has finally figured out how to make commercials I want to watch. Great idea.” Rico, TikTok user
“This is one of the best paid collaborations I've seen on this platform.” Jarmo I., TikTok user
My sponsored videos succeed because they achieve just the right balance, delivering marketing talking points while staying true to the style and format of the videos my fans already enjoy.
All kinds! I think that the work that I do is particularly well-suited to situations in which a brand is looking to highlight a specific physical location in the world - e.g., a new brick-and-mortar store, hotel, or restaurant.
But there are lots of other ways this can work, too! I've also been asked to find locations associated with TV shows or movies in the lead up to their premiere. I don't know if the type of video I do is right for every brand, but I'd be happy to brainstorm ideas with you if you're interested!
If this sounds like something that might be right for you and your brand, send me an emailto let me know what you're thinking!
